About Corey Kenton
Corey Kenton is Kentucky’s up and coming country music sensation. Born in Richmond Kentucky, where he is currently a Music Industry Major at Eastern Kentucky University, Corey has captured the attention and hearts of Central Kentucky’s country music fans. Corey’s story starts several years back, when he began teaching himself to play guitar. Since his first public performance, his fan base and audiences has grown considerably. In his short career, he has performed regularly at a variety of EKU events, including Lip Sync and Greek Sing, entertaining audiences of up to 1500 people. Highlights of his career to date include opening for Bluegrass Pioneer and Hall of Fame member Bobby Osborne, playing at ‘Rock the Lot’ where he opened up for National Acts including The Janedear Girls, Colt Ford, Josh Gracin and Mark Wills, as well as playing at the Legendary ‘Austin City Saloon’ in Lexington, KY where he plays twice monthly. With this being said, he is a favorite at local venues and is constantly receiving new offers and opportunities.
Corey has always loved country music. His greatest influences consist of Keith Whitley, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and Chris Young. His deep and soulful voice has been compared to Josh Turner and Jamie Johnson. After a trip to Nashville in the spring of 2010, Corey committed to his dream to become a country music performer. “When I went to Nashville and was touring the Ryman Auditorium, I walked on stage and looked out over the theater, I knew at that moment performing country music was what I wanted to do with my life.” Since this trip to Nashville, Corey has poured his heart and soul into making his dream into a reality.
